10 Escape Death As Four-Storey Building Collapses Near UNILORIN

 
Tragedy was averted on Thursday as 10 persons escaped death by whiskers when a section of a four-storey building under construction collapsed in Ilorin, Kwara ‎State.


The collapsed building was among five buildings of four stories each currently under construction in a compound believed to be hostels for students of the University of Ilorin.

 

It was gathered that the workers were working on the site when the section of the building collapsed.

Sources in the university told Punch that three of the workers sustained varying degrees of injuries following the collapse of the section of the building.

One of the students residing opposite the collapsed building, Joy Williams, said the incident was a surprise.


She said, “We were inside the room, then we heard a very loud noise and I went out. That was when the building just collapsed. It happened this afternoon.


“We heard somebody shouting, ‘Help, help;’ and people rushed to his rescue. They rescued one person and later rescued the second person.

“The third person was badly injured. They rushed the three of them to the hospital.
