'See Gobe'; Chinese Pensioner Digs His Own Grave And Waits In It. Photos

A man in China climbed into his own grave on March 23 after being told that it was the date he was going to die. Xiang Chaojie has suffered from esophageal cancer for several years and decided to ask a fortune teller about his death last year.

The 72-year-old from Guang'an decided to build his own grave and climbed into it on the 23 bidding farewell to friends and family, reports the People's Daily Online.

The man from China's Sichuan province dug the grave outside his house and waited for his own death. When the time didn't come, he remained there until he was rescued by local police and sent to hospital.

Xiang prepared well for his death even leaving behind several possessions to his friends, telling everyone that he knew he would die on that day. Other friends and family members were dubious about the prophecy.

His niece decided to check on him at around 9am and saw a man lying inside the grave. She called the police in a panic. Officers arrived at the scene and confirmed that the man inside was Xiang but he did not respond to them trying to wake him.

The officers entered the grave and found the pensioner alive. They took him to the hospital...

Xiang later told police that he had been drinking before he decided to climb into the grave. He says he thought the alcohol caused him to fall asleep.

The man promised to live the rest of his life to the fullest and cooperate with his doctor.
