The 67-year-old had been invited to the Leicester Unity Boxing Club in Beaumont Leys by Ajmal Butt, who founded the club to inspire youngsters on the estate, according to the Leicester Mercury .
About 20 young boxers and others from the area gathered as Manjit, dressed in a tracksuit, did breathing exercises to prepare for the first blow.
Mr Butt told the crowd: “I grew up with Manjit’s inspiration and his feats are amazing.
“We ain’t playing – they’re proper breeze blocks, they’re proper swords, this is a proper sledgehammer and we’re proper men.”
Manjit then lay down on his back, shouting: “First one – on my shins.”
As the crowd applauded, Manjit got up wincing in pain and took off his top for the next feat – lying belly-down on swords as Ajmal smashed another block, balance on his spine.
The third block was smashed on Manjit’s belly as he lay blindfolded and he held the fourth on the top of his head as it was smashed.
Ajmal, who formed the boxing club in 2010 in memory of his brother, Anton, who was murdered on the estate in 1996, said it was a worrying series of stunts for him to be involved in as well.
