He refused to give up his seat after United Airlines claimed the flight had been 'overbooked'. In fact, the company needed four seats for staff to get to the destination in Louisville, Kentucky, by the next day.
Dr Dao screamed and was left covered in blood after he smashed his face on a seat during the struggle.
The incident has led to calls for a worldwide boycott of United.
Dr Dao has so far declined to speak to media over the incident as he recovers in hospital with his family.
Meanwhile, United Airlines saw more than £1.1billion wiped off its share price amid the controversy .
More than 80,000 people so far have signed a petition to the White House asking for an investigation into the incident.
